JOB PURPOSE:
Manages complex business processes that require transplant specific content knowledge. Directs the business and financial operations of Liver Transplant, Kidney Transplant, Heart Transplant, LVAD, Transplant Research, Kidney Acquisition (Medicare Cost Report), HLA and Transplant Clinic. Responsibilities include: productivity, revenue cycle process, managed care contracting partnership, financial and value management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develops, implements and continuously improve the overall operational objectives and goals for all areas of responsibility of Piedmont Transplant Institute.
2. Partner with Piedmont Heart Institute (PHI) on areas of overlap with Heart Transplant & LVAD
3. Develops, implements and manages the fiscal budgets and Grant Funds for Piedmont Transplant Institute cost centers, focusing on volumes, staffing, and direct expenses.
4. Oversees and manages value through the accuracy, collection, and reporting of transplant related charges and direct expenses to maximize organ acquisition reimbursement while ensuring compliance with CMS guidelines.
5. Collaborates with Government Relations to provide needed information for Cost Report; time studies, Medicare log, deceased and paired donation information to maximize reimbursement.
6. Participates in the planning, implementation and evaluation of strategic finance initiatives for Piedmont Transplant Institute.
7. Collaborates with Revenue cycle leaders (hospital and physician enterprise), managed care leaders and third party vendors to identify, implement and manage transplant related contracts to ensure proper billing and payment.
8. Manages and participates in performance management process including performance evaluation, coaching, growth and development of self and staff.
9. Manage business operations team (eg transplant financial coordinators) to ensure efficient and effective financial clearance processes for transplant patients.
10. Involvement and leadership in continuous quality improvement activities across the Transplant Institute, specifically as it relates to finance and operations.

Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelor in Business or Finance.


MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Seven years experience in financial services or service line business operations.


ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in business or health related field preferred. Leadership qualities, including time management, verbal and written communication skills. Current knowledge of health care and financial impact of the managed care environment. Ability to use initiative, be self-directed and use independent judgement. Effective administrative and team-building skills. Embraces the Piedmont’s mission, vision and values. Previous transplant experience preferred.
